FAQs

Can I afford a business advisor?

Perhaps, a better question is can you afford NOT to hire a business advisor?  Yes, a business advisor is an investment, an investment in both time and money.  However, working with someone who has experience and has made mistakes, learned from them, and corrected them can take months and years off of a learning curve.  Ultimately, a business can thrive and grow earlier and faster than if the business owner had made those mistakes himself/herself.  Hiring a business advisor in the long run should save time and money.  I don’t require long-term contracts and you only pay for the time I provide to you.

My business is really struggling.  Can you help turn it around?

The honest answer is “it depends.”  Sometimes, a business owner just doesn’t have the drive that it takes to turn a business around.  I can help clarify in an honest, non-judgmental way the underlying motivations and limitations that the business owner has to change the situation.  Sometimes, external factors such as industry shifts, sales channel collapse, or product obsolesces are to blame for the business decline.  I can help guide the research and planning to put the business on a different, more successful path.  All-in-all, I provide an unbiased perspective of a business’ struggling situation.

I thought being my own boss would lead to time and financial freedom but it has been the complete opposite.  Can you help me get my life back?

Many entrepreneurs go into business for themselves to provide time flexibility and financial freedom.  However, owning a business can end up being a huge drain on the owner’s schedule and his/her financial resources, mainly because the owner starts the company without a strong business strategy.  Often an entrepreneur starts a business because they have a skill or trade they are very proficient at but they lack the skills of running a business.  This was a mistake I made initially but later learned from that mistake. By running the business deliberately instead of by default, an owner can take back their time and create a strong financial future from the beginning all the way to succession or a profitable exit strategy.  I assist business owner’s in developing that robust business strategy so that eventually he/she will have an asset that can be passed on or sold to create a viable financial future for the owner.

Can You Provide Tax or Legal Advice?

No.  I am not a licensed attorney nor a certified accountant so I cannot provide legal or tax advice.  The best biz advice if you need tax or legal assistance is to contact a licensed professional who can give you such advice.  Any tax or legal anecdotes I might share are based on my personal experience and are not meant to provide expert advice in those areas.  I can provide referrals to several qualified tax or legal professionals if you need help in these areas.
